LocalVote Collective — Voter Turnout Campaign
Local elections shape our schools, roads, safety, and everyday lives, yet they often have the lowest voter turnout. LocalVote Collective was created as a non-partisan campaign aimed at encouraging young voters (18–30) to show up for their community…not for a political party, but for the place they call home.
Scope & Vision
The project required a digital-first campaign that could:
Cut through political fatigue with bold, approachable messaging.
Drive traffic to a “Find My Local Ballot” tool.
Equip supporters with print materials for grassroots visibility.
Maintain a neutral, non-partisan tone that focused on civic participation, not party affiliation.
Execution:
To resonate with a skeptical, digitally-native audience, I designed a campaign that felt more like a grassroots movement and less like traditional politics:
Visual Identity: A high-contrast palette of coral red, electric blue, and bold white for immediate impact, avoiding the overused red/blue party tones.
Core Slogan: “Fix Your Backyard” — a call-to-action that emphasized local impact over national noise.
Assets Created:
Social ads breaking down why local elections matter.
A simplified landing page concept for BallotBuddy.com—making it easy to find ballot info by ZIP code.
A bold yard sign designed for visibility in suburban neighborhoods.
Community fliers to spread the word offline.
Email reminder template prompting users to Find Your Polling Place.
Tone: Empowering, not preachy. Neutral, but urgent. Designed to give ownership back to the voter.
Results
While conceptual, the campaign was crafted to demonstrate how design can:
Increase voter turnout by making civic participation feel personal and local.
Provide shareable, community-driven materials that avoid alienating or dividing.
Reframe voting from a national spectacle to a neighborhood responsibility.
